Meb Keflezighi has come a long way since fleeing East Africa. When he arrived in the U.S. and ran his first race, his teacher asked him if he wanted to go to the Olympics one day. He couldn’t answer because he didn’t speak English and didn’t know what the Olympics were. Now, he’s prepping for his fourth Olympic Games.
Yes, it’s been a very long journey, 100,000 miles to be exact.
Keflezighi is now 40 years old and will be 41 during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He will be oldest athlete from the USA to complete an Olympic marathon.

Why fly or drive from Boston to New York City when you can run? That was long-distance runner Simon Wheatcroft’s thinking when planning his journey from one city to the other. He’s been blessed with two working legs and he was going to use them.
The reason this Doncaster, England, native is running to NYC in the first place is to participate in the TCS New York City Marathon this Sunday. He will run about 220 miles through four states over the course of nine days before winding down with a nice 26.2-mile stroll through New York City. But he’s not worried about accomplishing all of this because running is something he can do with his eyes closed. Literally. Simon Wheatcroft was diagnosed legally blind at the age of 17.
CrossFit Kids sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it?
When you consider CrossFit, the popular, fast-paced workout used by police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units and now everyday gym-goers looking for that same high-intensity training, you think of bulging muscles, rigorous structure and Workouts of the Day. Kids render thoughts of somersaults at playtime. Apparently though, there is a middle ground between the two, and it exists on the floor of your neighborhood box. (That’s CrossFit speak for “gym.”) Available in over 1,200 gyms worldwide, CrossFit Kids classes are the latest trend in after-school programming—and if they’re anything like the grown-up version, they’re only poised to get bigger.
While there is something invigorating about running with hordes of people through the streets of New York or London, the crowds and pressure can be overwhelming. Why run shoulder to shoulder with tens of thousands of sweaty people on a cold day in a jam-packed city, when you can run alongside the beach or amongst wild animals with as much room as you want? With the help of ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes, we've compiled a list of some of the best—and often overlooked—marathons around the world. Get ready to see what you've been missing out on.
We’re all too familiar with Ronnie’s blowouts with his girlfriend and Jersey Shore costar Sammi Giancola. Well, perhaps the two should hit the gym together. Watch this video and learn how to help her tackle a strength session and what to expect when you train as a couple. (Yes, she’s probably going to bitch about heavy weights.)
